Felicia + Dan

Felicia was in Mike and Laura’s wedding party last September and contacted me about doing some engagement photos and doing her wedding in Jamaica in December. Unfortunately as it is too soon after the baby is born we won’t be going with her but we still got together with her and Dan (and their puppy Frank) to get some engagement photos. We went to fireman’s park and had a fun time traipsing through the park with Frank leading the way. I wish these two the best time on their destination wedding!

Jenn + Todd

I talk about the honour of being included on such an important day by my clients but even better than that is when I get to shoot the wedding of a friend or relative of a previous bride or groom. Todd is the cousin of a previous groom and brother of one of the groomsmen in the same wedding party. Him and Jennifer came to me and told me that they flat out wanted to book me because they were already familiar with my work. I love this because there is already an established relationship and trust which always makes it easier to capture someone as they are. When they filled out my questionnaire to get to know my clients better one of their hobbies of camping came up and since Todd’s Aunt and Uncle own a campground in Jordan it turned out to be an awesome spot for their engagement session. We scheduled the session around sunset in hopes of getting some super warm and gorgeous light and we got a thunderstorm instead! It made for some awesome clouds and worked for some of the unique shots we had set up. Jenn and Todd were so much fun and made me laugh! Can’t wait until October guys!

Thanks again to both of you!

Elizabeth + Ryan

I love how personal engagement sessions can get – it’s great to incorporate a favorite location or somewhere meaningful to the couple. Elizabeth and Ryan opted to take their puppy on their session and we went to a local conservation area where they go for walks with him all the time. We hiked along the path, down to some water, along the rocks and then of course out in a field. It was so great to work with them and I can’t wait til their wedding in September, it will be my last one before the baby is born. Check out some of the shots we got . . .

Erin + Mike

Truly, I believe I am the luckiest person in the world. For my job, I have the honour of meeting some truly amazing couples that let me be a part of the most important day of their lives. I meet their families, friends, hear the stories of how they met and get to witness the miracle that is two souls finding their match. I have to say that this year and next has me so excited, although I have less weddings planned because of the baby, I believe that the clients coming to me are MY clients. They are so in love with each other, willing to show it in front of the camera, and totally get my work. Erin and Mike are perfect examples of that type of client, from the moment Bryan and I met them at our first meeting we were both super excited. Erin is gentle and warm – and definitely considerate and Mike is always smiling and you can just tell how much he loves Erin by how much bigger that smile gets when his eyes land on her. Thanks from both Bryan and I to the both of you for choosing us and we wish you all the best! Here’s a few photos from their gorgeous wedding at Hernder’s . . .

I want to send a special thanks to Erin’s mom who made me cry with her kind words the day after the wedding. Both families were amazing and we wish you both all the best!

Michelle + Justin

I am quite late in posting this blog but I promise the reason is good (it always is – at least in my mind). I am a bit of a hormonal mess due to the pregnancy and well this makes writing from an emotional place very difficult and sometimes overwhelming. Michelle & Justin’s wedding would definitely be classified as an event that would put me in an “emotional place”. Their love, their families and the absolute joy they share in being together touched me in such a profound way. It didn’t help either that Bryan and I just found out that we’re having a boy and witnessing a wedding where there was such a strong bond between Justin and his family just about did me in. His Mother’s speech had me in tears and I was thankfully in a dark corner editing the reception slideshow so no one could see!

I have to say that doing this wedding as the second wedding in a weekend was very difficult, my pregnant body does not move quite the same way as it normally does, which takes some getting used to. Being so tired I called a friend and fellow colleague on Saturday morning begging for some help during the reception. Luckily, Nataschia Wielink of Nataschia Wielink Photography came and rescued me during the reception – I cannot say enough to thank her – and other photographers don’t ever forget that it’s better to make friends with other photographers so you can help each other out – than shun sharing anything and stay in your little corner.

The day itself was beautiful and the rain held off during the formal photos – it seems my luck from last year is continuing this year! Cross my fingers that it keeps going this way!

I cannot say enough about this couple, they remind me of myself and Bryan in that they are so completely at ease with each other, and Michelle – this next part is for you. Not only was Michelle gorgeous but so considerate – always worried about how I was feeling. Michelle was a dream bride to photograph because her face is so expressive – without restraint she is one of those people that enjoys life to the fullest, laughs with her whole heart and holds nothing back – and it’s plain to see how much Justin loves her because when he looks at her his whole face lights up just as much as hers. Your going to see in some of these photos what I mean about Michelle’s (and even Justin’s at times!) expressions. None of them we’re fake, or contrived – her laughs and smiles came from a candid, real and honest place – Just like Michelle herself.

12

Ok this photo needs an explanation! We had some creepy paparazzi people (complete strangers) that were following us in the park where we were and taking photos from behind trees and stuff. Being hormonal and pregnant I muttered something about how crazy some people are and Michelle offered to have one of her bridesmaids go and say something to them and I told her not to worry about it – next things I know her brother pipes up and says “I have a bullet in my pocket”. This photo was everyone’s reactions to that comment – Needless to say their mind was probably in the gutter! He was actually talking about a bullet he had on his keychain but it didn’t come out the way he meant it. Very funny, and made for great faces in the photo.

Michelle’s dress was gorgeous and I just couldn’t resist getting her to spin around in it!

We shot at the gorgeous Queenston Heights – it was so beautiful!

Bryan and I would just like to thank Michelle & Justin and their families for including us in their day. Thanks also for your patience for this post – how funny that they have their wedding photos before I get the blog post up!

Wishing you friendship and love,

Amanda
