Sisters TTD

I love letting new clients know that I really like to be friends with my clients, they get this look on their face that either says one of two things; This lady is crazy or Sounds cool with me. Colleen & Jochen are definitely a part of that second category. These two are definitely people that we now consider friends beyond the client relationship, in fact since they came up this past weekend they are being so gracious to have us come down and visit them in a few weeks. One of the things that struck me during their wedding was just how awesome both of their families were and how well they all got along. Sometimes it was hard to distinguish between eachother’s family because everyone was so friendly with each other. Colleen & Jochen’s wedding was beautiful but beyond that it was great to get to know some truly wonderful people. One person in particular, was Colleen’s sister Christine. After the reception slideshow I heard the story of her wedding photos and how her photographer (at the time) wouldn’t even return her phone calls or emails. I was very angry at this and I felt bad that at that point she didn’t really have anything to remember her day.

The next day Colleen & Jochen had invited Bryan & I to their day after brunch and we enjoyed our time with their families. They made us both feel so welcome that when the topic came up again I told both Colleen & Christine that when Colleen did her trash the dress session that Christine could come all dressed up too, free of charge and get photos done as well. Christine & Tim were definitely excited and Colleen very appreciative. So this past weekend they got in their dresses again and had fun kissing, staring at, running around, and walking hand in hand with their husbands. We had a great time and considering the cold – definitely appreciated the homemade turkey soup waiting at home! Thanks again to all four of you for coming down and staying for dinner afterwards – it was definitely good company. See you in four weeks!

Colleen & Jochen in the grass

Loved this lake! Took lots of photos here!

Their so cute together!

All four of them together

I am seriously in love with Colleen’s veil – I am pretty sure I could do a shoot based just around it – I pretty much did ! Check out the next few ones.

Ummm notice anything different? Yes I have a very talented husband – he is an amazing photographer in his own right and sometimes (up until now) I have posted his work but not given him credit. Not on purpose, just honestly never thought of it. He sheepishly asked me the other day why I didn’t and I told him the truth but promised him from now on I’d share with everyone his gorgeous shots. This next one is my favorite from the shoot.

I’m sure we’ll have photos from when we go up and visit – can’t wait!

Wishing you friendship & love,

Amanda

Off to Guelph & surrounding areas . . .

Bryan and I are off to Erin this weekend (just outside of Guelph) to shoot Sarah & Des’s wedding. We are both very excited and looking forward to this outdoor ceremony (weather please hold up!) on Sarah’s parents property in Erin – photos will be done around the forks of the Credit (hoping to get to the waterfall – check it out http://gallery.photo.net/photo/6052603-lg.jpg )  so as this is the first wedding this year where pretty much everything is out doors I’m hoping my luck with rain will hold. It seems like every wedding I’ve done on weekends where it has rained – the rain has subsided exactly when we planned to do the formals. It’s also created some great clouds as backdrops! In any case this weekend should be a good time and then on Sunday we have a trash the dress session with Colleen – Jochen and some surprised guests and then on Monday I have a family photo session at Rockwood! Lots of shooting and hopefully great weather – wish us luck!

Jaclyn and Pat – Wear the Dress

Unfortunately I got to know Jaclyn and Pat a little after they had already chosen their photographer for their wedding and already had a booking on their day but when they asked me if I would take some photos afterwards that would have a different feel to them I was more than happy and definitely excited to work with them! Here are a few photos of these two that are so obviously in love . . . Thanks again to you both!

Trash your Dress Sam :) – or not . . .

Trashing your dress after your wedding day has become a new phenomenon here in Canada but has been in the United States for a few years. The idea is that you are going to be with your husband forever and why pay so much money on a dress that you’ll never wear again? Although it is certainly a fun session and one that is definite to create some memorable photos – it is not for everyone nor for every dress. I take a bit of a different approach to it – so I call it mess the dress, which basically is a nicer version. It means you can go swimming and do all the crazy stuff if you want to but it’s more about doing something you love or going to a beautiful location and taking more photos – but on a day when you are more relaxed. So when talking to my assistant Samantha about this she shyly asked if I would take some of these photos of her and then said that she wouldn’t be any good but that it would be nice to get some more photos of her for her husband. Well Samantha is extremely humble and modest in my opinion because she was amazing and we got some really killer shots – take a look :)
